3. Which version makes sense?

There isn't one right edition for every buyer. The question is whether you want the extra in-game content now, or prefer to start with the base game and decide later.

Standard edition

$79.99 US listed price

Best fit when you mainly want the story and don't need the extra Ultimate items. Available digitally or as a code in a box, not a disc. You can purchase the Ultimate upgrade later.

Ultimate edition

$99.99 US listed price

Costs $20 more at the listed US prices and adds an assortment of in-game vehicles, clothing, weapons and locations. Digital only. Check the official item list before deciding if it's worth it.

Five things to know before paying

  1. Pick the correct console family. Rockstar has announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, not a PC or older-generation version.
  2. Physical doesn't mean disc. The physical Standard package contains a download code, so you'll need to redeem it and download the game.
  3. Digital pre-loading begins November 10. PS5 pre-load starts at midnight local time; Xbox Series X|S pre-load starts globally at 12 a.m. GMT. Code-in-box copies are expected from November 12, and can be downloaded after the code is received and redeemed.
  4. Free up space before pre-loading. Rockstar says the download needs up to 212 GB of available storage depending on your device.
  5. Check your account's region. Rockstar advises matching a digital download code to the region of your platform account, particularly on PlayStation.
  6. Check purchase bonuses carefully. Rockstar advertises the Vintage Vice City Pack for qualifying purchases before November 20 and a GTA+ month for eligible digital buyers. Review the offer terms in your region.
